Chris Morgan (politician)
Chris Morgan was the Conservative mayor of North Tyneside, England, from his election in May 2002 until he resigned in April 2003.
He was the Borough's first ever directly elected mayor.
He resigned after he was arrested on charges related to child pornography.〔(BBC NEWS | England | Tyne | Arrested mayor resigns his post )〕 He was later brought to trial on the child pornography charges. The jury at Hull Crown Court found him not guilty of all charges in September 2004.〔(BBC NEWS | England | Tyne | Ex-mayor cleared of porn charges )〕 A by-election was held to replace him - the winner was Linda Arkley. However in March 2005, North Tyneside Labour alleged that Morgan was still 'pulling the strings' on Arkley's proposed budget.〔(Ex-mayor denies he set the budget - JournalLive )〕
